PUTTING IT PLAINLY

In days gone by, the grass runway at Guernsey airport was shorter than it is now. It so happened on a day in 1954 that a car was driving along a road next to the airport. Those in the car were struck by the increasingly loud sound of an approaching plane shortly before the car was struck by the plane itself. Thankfully, apart from a smashed windscreen and a few scratches on the undercarriage of the plane, nobody was seriously injured. This plane story isn’t a plain story by any means, but there is something about it that we can all relate to. We’ve all experienced times when challenges seem to come our way out of the blue. When they do, it’s helpful for us to remember the words of James 4:13-14, that we do not know what tomorrow (or the rest of today) will bring. On the other hand, no matter what we face, it is crucial that we do know the One who will bring tomorrow. To put it plainly, let’s fix our eyes on Christ Jesus who is the One who will hold us fast until He brings us into the bright new day of eternity with Him, (Jude v24-25; Psalm 139; 2 Thessalonians 3:3 & Revelation 21:1-4).
