JULY 2025.
Our toddler son had a run-in with two small dogs on a walk one day. More accurately, the dogs had a run-in at him while barking as fiercely as little dogs can, but thankfully they were the other side of a fence. The fence, however, didn’t prevent the experience from shaping his young heart. Although we very seldom see or hear those particular dogs when we’re out on a walk, every time we get near their fence (even months later), he adamantly waits to be picked up and carried safely by.
What little dogs have you had a run-in with recently? Of course, as we mature, we’re unlikely to actually fear little dogs, but most of us have an equivalent of sorts. What causes you anxiety or to be afraid? The good news is that a father’s joy is to protect his children, and we have a Heavenly Father who promises to carry us through every fray and will faithfully do so until we’re safely home. If you’re needing to be carried today, take the words of Isaiah 46:4 to heart. They’re just for you!

Even to your old age I am He,
and to grey hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save.
