DECEMBER 2022.
A GLIMPSE OF THE SAVIOUR.
The Christmas season is upon us and lights and decorations have suddenly become the order of the day. For some, there is much to celebrate this Christmas as a fruitful year is remembered and as family and friends gather together from near and far to create a new chapter of joyful memories. Others, however, have had a trying year and will know a degree of sorrow mingled into the joy of Christmas. Some will experience intensified pangs of loneliness or grief in their hearts at this time. Whatever our mood as we enter December, my prayer is that we would all be filled with true joy and hope, not because of our varying circumstances, but because we have glimpsed the Saviour who was born in a manger. Our highest joys collapse without Him, and yet we are lifted from our deepest sorrows when He is our hope. If we have had a predominantly pleasant year, let’s be filled with thankfulness to the One who is the true source of joy. On the other hand, if we have had a stormy year, may we know the hope of the Saviour who is a sure and steady anchor for our souls (Hebrews 6:19). Regardless of our circumstances, may we find ourselves rejoicing as the Magi did, who rejoiced exceedingly with great joy” when they saw the star (Matthew 2:10-11). I pray that you are filled with hope this December, and that you have many reasons to rejoice, but even if it stands as a lone treasure this year, may the knowledge of the gift of salvation overwhelm your heart with joy and hope.
One in Christ
