DECEMBER 2025.
THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

Have you ever needed light when there was none? After the change of the clocks, it came to our attention rather too late that the sensor light at Bethany wasn’t working as it should. We discovered this when two of the folk who come along to our Tuesday evening Life Group arrived with mud on their hands, saying that they had needed to feel their way down the steps leading to our door. Needless to say, we ordered new lights the next day so that light would shine on the path in future weeks. In a spiritual sense, once we all walked in darkness, unable to find our way. But John 1:9 tells us that “the true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world,” and the real meaning of Christmas is a celebration that the Light has indeed now come. Thanks be to God! If we are still walking in darkness now that the light has come, perhaps it is be because we are keeping our eyes closed rather than opening them to the light (John 3:19-20). This Christmas period, let’s do all we can to walk in the light with our eyes open and fixed on Jesus. Let’s also be kind to others by inviting them to do the same.

One in Christ
